I am interested in a type of drawing subordinate to the "painterly construction of mood". I use color, layering and translucency as core structural elements, suggesting that the subjects are less about direct representation, and more about recollections, or fragments, of an internalized narrative. I look for soft focus, ambiguity, and the suggestive power of light moving through color. Digital layering allows for a fluid, non-destructive method of building complex color interactions.
